Kim Molenaar completed her master’s degree in Cultural Anthropology and Development Sociology at Leiden University in 2013. She specialized in Global Economy and Culture and conducted fieldwork among Afrikaans speaking South Africans in the Netherlands. At the moment she works on a PhD proposal on the effects of mining in Malawi.
Kim currently works as OOM (research and teaching assistant) for the Institute of Cultural Anthropology and Development Sociology. She leads study groups, supports colleagues with their teaching and helps organizing events like conferences and the yearly careers day for students.
Besides her job at the University of Leiden, Kim works as a researcher for a bureau for equal treatment in Rotterdam.
